Help for the Hurting Provides Assistance to Loved Ones of Drug Addicts, Welcomes Trumbull County Sheriff to Speak at Kick-off Event

NILES, Ohio, March 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Trumbull County Sheriff, Tom Altiere and Mayor Thomas A. Scarnecchia along with other Public Health Officials and members of TAG (Trumbull Ashtabula Group) are set to speak to a large audience in Niles, Ohio this coming Tuesday. This audience is unique, they all have been struggling with the loss of family members due to overdoses and are currently dealing with loved ones that are addicted to heroin.

On Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 7 PM the newly formed Non-Profit Organization, Help for the Hurting, will be hosting its Kick-Off Event at Family Life Church in Niles, Ohio, where the Sheriff is scheduled to take the podium as the featured speaker.  Family Life Church is just off of Robbins Avenue across from White's service station.

Help for the Hurting seeks to assist loved ones of drug addicts, mainly focusing on those who suffer from Heroin Addiction. Many addicts and recovering addicts have support groups, programs and many tools at their disposal, yet the family members and friends of these addicts have few places to turn to for support and information. That's one of the main goals of Help for the Hurting.
Singelis the founder of the new Non-Profit said, "We are excited to have Sheriff Tom Altiere and
Mayor Thomas A. Scarnecchia help us and speak to our organization. Tom has a proven track record of fighting for our community and the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department is doing everything in its power to fight this epidemic, we stand united with anyone who is willing to help fight against this rampant attack on our community and our families. Mayor Thomas A. Scarnecchia is cleaning up Niles in more ways than one, we are delighted he accepted our invitation."

Singelis criticized the narrow-minded thinking of jailing and jamming-up individuals with addictions issues. "Personal speaking, if you can't put yourself in the shoes of these people, you shouldn't be in a position of authority. I am proud to have a man like Tom Altiere in office, he cares and I guess you could even say he is a caregiver. We support the use of Vivitrol and believe that it's coldhearted to treat addicts as criminals. These are deep and sophisticated issues we are facing, we need a seasoned leader, not a novice who requires on the job training."

Nick Singelis has 16 years of Non-Profit experience. He has firsthand knowledge of the devastation of heroin addictions. He has seen too often the pain that heroin overdoses have on families.
This event has taken off. Hundreds are responding, calling, texting and joining the event on
Facebook. Individuals are encouraged to RSVP on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/484239041700803/

Pastor Tim Gowens from Family Life Church will also be speaking, along with Jeff Ore from Trumbull Ashtabula Group (TAG) and the Family Life Church has agreed to open the church for AA, NA and HA meetings in the future.
